New Zealand...HERE WE COME PDF Print E-mail

With a little over two weeks to go, anticipation is high for the New Zealand rotary community as the “V” 4 & Rotary Nationals rolls into the Auckland Showgrounds on January 24. With the ship already at dock in the land of the long white cloud, the PAC Performance machines of the PAC MX6 and McKern Racing’s Grump2 RX2 are on New Zealand soil ready for battle against New Zealand’s best in Sports Compact come January 25 at the Fram Autolite Dragway at Meremere.

“We have been eager to compete at Meremere since we last raced there in 2006 when we packed the place out” states McKern Racing team Principal Damien McKern. “With thanks to Azhar and the team at 4 & Rotary Promotions, we are able to come across and try to run some quick times on both sides of the Tasman”.

McKern Racing crew chief Arron Skillen remarks “It has been a long process to get this going; we have been in discussions with Azhar since the Nats last year and I can’t believe there is only two weeks to go. Hopefully we can put on a good show for the NZ public”.

The stage is set for this year’s Nationals to be the biggest on record with the PAC cars forming as round 1 of the Turbosmart Tour of NZ. As a two-day event the 2009 4&Rotary Nationals features a ‘Show’ day at Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds in Greenlane where 250 modified cars will be on display. The following day the ‘Drags’ kick off at Fram Autolite Dragway, Meremere with over 300 competitors taking to the strip. Over 120 trophies and thousands of dollars worth of cash and product prizes will be up for grabs over the weekend.

Further spectator entertainment includes a monster truck exhibition, trade stands, DJ Quest, DB Drag Racing SPL sound-off, an R/C car display, the Interclub Challenge, FMX action, a burnout comp, and of course, the legendary 4&Rotary Bikini Jam –plus more. Thanks to ‘V’ all spectators also have the chance to drive home in a new car – more specifically a twin-turbo Toyota Aristo fully decked-out by some of the biggest names in the NZ custom and performance car industry.

Round 2 of PAC’s Turbosmart Tour of NZ will take place at the V 4 & Rotary South Island Champs on the weekend of 21-22 February 2009. Stay tuned for further info.
