It is with great sadness that the McKern Racing Team announces that GRUMP2 will no longer be attending Powercruise 14 this weekend at Queensland Raceway.
The team have had a small issue raised with the legality of the car under the new Group 2 ANDRA rules which needs to be addressed before our next major meeting in 3 weeks time in Sydney, being the Fuchs Australian Nationals. Unfortunately, this requires the removal of the engine and driveline to reweld a small piece (20mm) of OEM firewall back in place. “Having had ANDRA stewards and scutineers go over the car, they are happy with the car in the current state and that it meets all requirements to be legal for the class, we would still prefer to put this small strip back in place to ensure that there is no problem once we hit the Nationals”, Crew Chief Arron Skillen states today.
The team does sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this late withdrawal. The McKern Racing team has been a major supporter of the Powercruise brand since its inception in 2003 and primary sponsor McKern & Associates remains a key sponsor in the event today. GRUMP2 has now become synonymous with Powercruise folklore with the number of passengers that have experienced the passenger seat of the 1000 RWHP monster growing every year.
Keep your eye out for the green machine in the new Super Compact class of ANDRA National Drag Racing at Western Sydney on 12-14 of September 2008.
