Adding to a remarkable return to the track for the team, Grump2 and McKern Racing have enjoyed their most successful Jamboree campaign on record which was capped off by top qualifying in the newly formed Street 289 class as well as taking the national ET and MPH records.

The 16th annual Fast Fours and Rotaries Jamboree has turned into McKern Racing’s most successful race meet on record.  Among the list of feats recorded at the Jamboree, Grump2 and McKern Racing set a few milestones of their own recording the quickest and fastest times for the meet in the Street 289 class, taking the Street 289 ET and MPH national records in the process, Top Qualifier for Street 289, semi finalist and judged best presented crew by the commentary staff.  It caps an amazing return to form for the Grump who since returning to the track with the PAC powered 20B setup has run an impressive 10 mid to low 8 second passes out of the 14 run.  Grump2’s best time being an 8.202@164mph at the recent East Coast Nationals held in Sydney.  In the private test day that followed, Grump2 has run two consecutive 168+mph passes, making it the fastest untubbed rotary in the world by an incrediable 4 mph.  Considering all of this, the green machine is still at the shallow end of performance and testing and the PAC boys have plenty more power to wind into it.
Come Jamboree, spirits and intentions were high as the stage was set for a four way tussle for top spot in the untubbed tree, between Damien, Craig Wasson and Bill Nabham's Mr12a, Wayne Dyson’s RX3 and Oz Mod record holder Richard Gauci’s HYPTUP Rx3.  The end of qualifying for the new Street 289 class saw Grump2 at the top with an 8.23@159mph first pass, which ended up being the weekend’s best for the car.  Mr12a ran a close second with an 8.25@161mph and HYPTUP with an 8.39@ 160mph.  Wayne Dyson's Dyson Rotary RX3 with McKern and Associates support overpowered the track and registered a peddling 9.38 second pass to qualify for the field of 16.  Another McKern and Associates sponsored car was also debuting a new setup was Bryce Miller’s 13BEE RX3.  13BEE qualified well with a 9.26@ 126mph to set up a first round meeting with Craig Dyson.  The money went to Dyson who beat Miller off the tree and registered the win to go to the round of 8.

One of the highlights of the event was the match race between the PAC MX6 and the Rotor Master Camrydore of Joe Signorelli.  The piston vs rotor match was the most fiercely fought race of the weekend with neither car giving an inch.  It started at the tree with both the MX6 and Camry refusing to come into stage.  Eventually PAC won the staging duel, with the Camry bumping in first.  With George moving in the MX6 the race was on and unfortunately, the MX6 red lit instantly handing the win to the Camry which ran through with a 6.88@201mph pass.  But not to be outdone, the MX6 ran out the back narrowly missing a 6 of his own running a 7.01@ 198mph.  The race tore the roof down and many expect to see these teams going at it again many times this year.

PAC succes added to the weekend with Grump2 ending the meeting as National Record holders for Street 289, cementing their spot as the fastest untubbed rotor in the world and proving to the country that Grump is a force to be reckoned with this season.  With a haul of 80 points for the first round, McKern Racing is off to a great start to the 06-07 season, currently lying in 2nd place.

McKern Racing would like to congratulate the efforts of Ivan Skaramuca and his team in capturing the Pro Turbo title for the Jamboree.  Ivan defeated the Rotor Master 'Camrydore' in the final in his return to the track after a two year absence.  Well done.
