Grump2 and McKern Racing made a very successful return to the track with its new PAC powered 20B methanol setup, running into the untubbed top ten for the very first time.

After just 4 passes back in the car, Damien McKern has steered his little green jet well into the top ten untubbed rotary reeling off an incredible which at the time, was the quickest and equal fastest untubbed rotary time in the world.  It was just pipped at the end of the night by Craig Wasson's 'Mr 12A' by 6 one hundreths of a second!

It was a weekend of firsts for the team, also debuting in the newly formed RRR/API class to run in the Super Stock Category.  After three very soft qualifying runs which produced a 9.99@157mph, a 8.90@157mph and a 16.6@164mph, Grump2 qualified 15th in the 16 car field.  Damien then put on the show, running the 8.2 very easy, using low boost and short shifting top gear, but also taking the first round win earning a spot in the qualifying final.  The final run resulting in a 9.42@148mph which was caused by a leaking Pop off valve.  Rest assured, the team will be ready for the next event, the Fast Fours Jamboree, 23rd to 24th of September 2006 at Willowbank Raceway.
